About Our Client

Warwick Boat Club had continued its traditional accounting method until recently when they company decided to make its process more efficient. Formed in 1861, Warwick Boat Club is a company limited by guarantee and the operation of the club is managed by a general committee consisting of the captains of each section and volunteers from the club’s other operations.

Owen Wilson, the club’s voluntary treasurer, is an accountant by day and recognised the benefits that a cloud based accounting system could bring. Prior to contacting Prime the traditional accounting system not only placed a significant time burden on Owen, but restricted the ability to present real time information to fellow members.

How We Helped

The club has ambition to grow, as demonstrated by a £200,000 scheme to improve clubhouse facilities in 2013. Financial information and an improved accounting function are vital for this growth which led Owen to contact Prime Accountants Group and discuss how Xero could benefit their club.

Prime Accountants Group Director, Laurence Moore, worked with Owen to revolutionise the club’s finance function. By drawing on Xero’s extensive marketplace of add ons and Prime Accountants Group’s experience in customising cloud based systems to clients requirements, the club is now able to take online payments, process invoices online and present real time financial information to be discussed at the club’s AGM. By using Xero, it has streamlined the financial aspect of the club and made Owen’s job easier.

Following the conversion, Prime Accountants Group’s team has been on hand to provide additional support and training when required, and have highlighted additional efficiencies which have been successfully implemented. An example of which is Receipt Bank, an add on that eliminates data entry, the team at Warwick Boat Club submit their receipts, bills and invoices via a personalised email address and using world-class OCR data extraction technology and the integration with Xero this data is imported automatically.

Warwick boat club is a spectacular club which offers members 11 state-of-the-art artificial grass tennis courts – ten of them floodlit; two squash courts; a bowling green, and a 2000 meter navigable section of the river. The accounting function now lends itself to assist this developing club achieve it’s long term goals.
