After 2 successful years as Chamber president, Prime director Kevin Johns has now stepped down from his role to make way for the newly appointed president, Robert Elliot, director at Hogarths.

Kevin has overseen a number of changes, one of which was the introduction of a new Solihull Chamber team. Lillian has taken on the role as Head of Solihull and was joined by Sam Frampton as a membership executive.

Local Solihull Chamber events have gone from strength to strength with record numbers of attendees at the majority. With the President's Christmas Drinks, Pro-Solihull networking events, and enterprising lunches all proving popular, there were 1,444 delegates who attended Solihull Chamber events in 2017 and membership saw a rise of 6%. The highest profile event was the introduction of the annual Solihull Chamber awards which sold out for a second year in a row with 300 guests attending each dinner.

We anticipate these figures will only continue to rise as the business community grows over the upcoming years as a result of the plans that are in place for the area. With the highly anticipated HS2 coming to Solihull, we can predict there will be many benefits for the town due to the improved accessibility of the capital and the UK's second city, Birmingham.

Kevin believes the chamber to be a vital link between the local stakeholders and the key decision makers which enables a better working environment to develop within Solihull. Kevin was fortunate to have a fantastic executive committee to work with comprising of enthusiastic individuals who all shared the same goal of enhancing business growth and opportunities.

The Chamber has not only encouraged businesses to develop close ties between themselves, but has also worked to build connections with the local community and worthy causes such as a charity, Help Harry Help Others. By working together as a team, it has enabled them to make a larger difference to the community than what they would have been able to make as individuals.

Now that Kevin has taken a step back from his role as president and is now taking a seat on the executive committee, he looks forward to continuing to be a part of the team and assisting Robert lead the chamber from strength to strength. He wishes Robert all the best and knows he will be able to provide a lot to the chamber during his time as president.
