Nick Ballard celebrates twenty years of contribution and growth at Prime Accountants Group
By Nick Ballard, IT Manager
Prime Accountants Group is celebrating a special milestone as IT Manager Nick Ballard marks 20 years with the firm this year.
Nick first began supporting Prime back in 2003, working closely with the firm as one of its trusted external contacts at an IT support company, before becoming an official full-time Prime employee in 2006.
Looking back at the last two decades, Nick said: “It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years. When I think back to where it all started and everything we’ve been through since, it really has been quite the journey.”
Nick originally joined Prime to provide internal IT support and to sell IT services to accountancy clients.
He quickly became a trusted point of contact for a wide range of small and medium-sized businesses, many of whom he still works with today.
Over the years, he has helped guide the business through periods of major expansion as it has taken on new acquisitions.
His work has included supporting growing teams, planning office moves and refurbishments and bringing together systems and software across newly acquired practices to ensure a smooth transition for both colleagues and clients.
“Since I started at Prime, I’ve been involved in the acquisition of five accountancy practices and the relocation of three offices, so there’s never been a dull moment.
“A lot of the work happens quietly in the background, but it’s always a great motivator to know that the work you are doing is helping people do their jobs and making life easier for clients and colleagues alike.”
Nick has continued to build his expertise during his time at Prime, earning several Microsoft certifications, including the highly respected MCSE, and completing management training through the firm’s CAPE Coaching and Development programme.
“Prime has always given me the chance to push and develop my knowledge and abilities, and, for that, I’m very grateful, as it means that I’m not stagnating with current information or methods and always have to think outside the box to find solutions to problems that arise.
“The CAPE programme has allowed me to strengthen my managerial skills as well, so I’m ready for any additional challenges as and when they happen.”
Nick shared that as much as he enjoys keeping busy, he also values the quieter periods.
“I do appreciate the quieter spells between projects. They give you a chance to look back on what’s been achieved before the next big project comes along.”
Jamie Skelding, Director at Prime, said: “Nick has been an enormous part of Prime’s story over the past 20 years. His knowledge and loyalty have helped guide the firm through major periods of growth and change.
“He is someone colleagues trust implicitly, and his contribution, often behind the scenes, has had a lasting impact across the whole business. We are delighted to celebrate this milestone with him and we look forward to working with him for many more years.”
As he reaches his 20-year anniversary, Nick’s story is a wonderful example of the long-standing commitment and expertise that help Prime continue to deliver for clients and support colleagues every day across the firm.
