Prime Takes a Tree-Mendous Step Towards Carbon Offsetting

The Prime team pictured tree planting to support its sustainability journey

Prime has underlined its ongoing commitment to sustainability by taking part in a tree planting day in partnership with Co Treetment and DNS Limited.

As part of our sustainability journey and ambition to become Net Zero by 2040, our team swapped sums for saplings and rolled up their sleeves to take part in a tree planting day in Thringstone, North West Leicestershire.

Prime’s carbon offsetting crew included Steve Harcourt, Terry Reeves, Emma Pithouse and Kerrie Given, who collectively planted a tree-mendous 120 silver birch trees!

Our green-fingered crew were part of a team of 25 who planted an impressive 700 trees.

Kerrie said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to get out of the office, pull our wellies on and really make a difference, so we were all pleased to be taking part.”

“We found it incredibly rewarding to see the results of our hard work and to know that these trees will continue to absorb carbon dioxide year after year.”

“The team building aspect of the day was also valuable, plus we got to enjoy a pub lunch with our fellow tree planters and raise a glass to our hard work.”

“We would like to extend our thanks to the teams at DNS and Co Treetment for helping us achieve such a brilliant result.”

Why tree planting?

Prime Accountants Group has taken on the task of tree planting as part of our commitment to supporting local sustainability efforts and contributing positively to community led environmental initiatives

Each silver birch tree planted by our team is estimated to absorb around 12kg to 15kg of carbon per year on average over its lifetime. While the impact is modest at first, the long term benefits grow as the trees mature

That means the 120 trees we helped plant will offset approximately 7.5 metric tons of carbon dioxide over the next 25 yrs.

Who are Co Treetment?

Co Treetment is an environmental charity specialising in tree planting initiatives to help develop woodland areas in the East Midlands.

The projects are designed to help mitigate carbon emissions by absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere, as well as managing water levels in flood plains and providing habitats for local wildlife.
