Leading local accountants support fresh talent with training investment

By Morgan Davies, Managing Director

Prime Accountants, a leading accountancy firm based in the West Midlands, is renewing its commitment to upskilling existing team members while welcoming a fresh cohort of talent.

Partnering with expert training provider CAPE, Prime aims to ensure that those working for the firm are given the skills and knowledge required to be more effective in their roles.

In turn, this can enhance the support that clients receive and preserve the high levels of retention that Prime has attained, as demonstrated by the multiple career milestones the firm has recently celebrated.

CAPE and Prime have worked together before for a year-long Director Development Programme designed to build individual leadership capability while strengthening collective impact.

Reflecting on the previous success, Morgan Davies, Managing Director at Prime Accountants, noted that “Prime has achieved its objectives through the CAPE program, resulting in a noticeable change in its culture and positioning it for sustained success.

“We have observed enhanced collaboration among the different service lines and teams, effectively addressing common business challenges both internally and externally.”

The benefits of the collaboration were echoed by Lynsey Kitching, one of the Founders of Cape.

“We’re really pleased to be working with Prime again and to be starting with a third cohort of managers,” Lynsey said. “Prime is a growing organisation doing great work, and one of the things we’ve always valued about working with them is how seriously they take the development of their people and leaders.

“Having worked with Prime’s directors as well as their managers, we know the important role they play in creating the environment for others to grow and develop.

“At CAPE, we’re proud of the lasting relationships we build with our clients, supporting them through different stages of their growth, and it’s fantastic to be continuing that relationship with Prime.”

Having effective managers is a vital part of any firm that seeks to get the most value from teams.

The programme being undertaken focuses on helping managers build not only their professional expertise, but also the leadership and commercial skills they need to lead people well and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Naomi Regan, the other Founder of CAPE, observes the impact that investing in long-term training can have on firms.

“What we really enjoy about this programme is that it isn’t development in isolation from the day-to-day reality of the business,” Naomi said. “Over the next 9 to 12 months, we’ll work with Prime’s managers through focused workshops, 1-to-1 coaching and opportunities to put their learning into practice.”

The programme culminates in a business project, where managers take what they’ve developed and apply it to a real opportunity or challenge within Prime.

Training of this kind has resulted in some brilliant ideas and innovation from those who have previously undertaken it, so both parties are excited about what insights will emerge from the training with Prime.

Naomi adds: “It’s a great example of investing in people development in a way that builds individual capability while also creating value for the wider business.”

Both Prime and CAPE seek to give their clients true value by working continually to provide high-quality support.
